We are

Protect Fredonia Coalition is part of a broader citizen-led effort working alongside Advocates for Responsible Power through Responsible Energy Alliance. Together, these coalitions are coordinating public awareness, legal strategies, community organizing, and resource-sharing efforts to oppose the proposed power line route and advocate for responsible energy planning.

Our mission is to safeguard the rural character, natural beauty, and quality of life that make this area special. We believe local families, farmland, wildlife, wetlands, woodlands, and future generations should not be sacrificed for corporate interests or infrastructure decisions that fail to fully respect the people who live here.

Through education, outreach, public engagement, and collective action, we are working to ensure that our community has a strong voice in the decision-making process. We are committed to raising awareness, sharing accurate information, supporting affected residents, and standing together for a better, more responsible solution.

Together, we are standing for our community, our families, our farmland, and our future.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Responsible Energy Alliance (REA) is representing people, communities, and entities whose substantial interests may be affected by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission’s action or inaction in the Ozaukee County Distribution Interconnection Project.

The people and entities whose substantial interests REA represents are those who would be substantially negatively impacted, irreparably harmed, displaced and/or destroyed, if American Transmission Company (ATC) constructs extra high-voltage transmission lines on either of the greenfield routes in Ozaukee County and Washington County.

In the most immediate sense, REA represents the interests of people who would actually have the transmission line facilities constructed on, or adjacent to, their land. In a secondary sense REA represents all people in the community (including future generations) who will suffer irreparable harm and loss due to the devastation that would occur if ATC actually constructs on the greenfield routes in Ozaukee County and Washington County and destroys the historic, prehistoric, ecological, environmental, and cultural amenities of this special area. This in essence is REA’s core activity. REA believes that it is striving to represent the interests of all communities, entities, and people who would be negatively impacted by the greenfield routes proposed by ATC for the routing of its transmission lines through Ozaukee County and Washington County.

REA will succeed when it permanently protects the threatened greenfield areas of Ozaukee County and Washington County from ATC’s proposed construction plans, which REA asserts are immoral, unethical, unlawful, and antithetical to the tradition and spirit of the State of Wisconsin and its people.

By way of background, REA is an association or alliance formed by the Protect Fredonia Coalition and the Advocates for Responsible Power.
